Quite often not everyone in the family is a diver. Scuba Instruction is available for beginners at Dive Provo, and we also work closely with other water sports operators to help you arrange all kinds of other excursions.
If you don’t dive then you absolutely must go snorkeling while in Provo. There are a couple of easy access areas for shore snorkeling and if you don’t have your own equipment then you can rent a full set of gear from Dive Provo for only $18.00 per day (24 hours.)
For better snorkeling take a boat trip. Dive Provo offers 2 dedicated snorkel trips. One is the Grace Bay excursion run generally in the afternoons. This trip takes about 3 hours from pick up to drop-off and we visit 2 sites out in Grace Bay inaccessible from shore. Each snorkel is about 45 minutes and the boat trip is a short 10 minute ride. See colorful corals and fans, tropical reef fish, turtles and often a nurse shark. Refreshments included. $59.00 Children ½ price. This tour can not be pre-booked as it is weather dependent. Please contact us once on island to discuss your options.
South Side Snorkel Trip — For the seasoned snorkeler our South Side snorkel is a trip not to be missed. A fifty minute boat ride over the beautiful Caicos Banks will take you to barely visited reefs at West Caicos, Southwest Reef, French Cay or Molasses Reef. Each area is wild, lovely and quite remote and we choose the destination based on the wind direction that day, to give you the best experience. Marvel at the colors of the water where the Caicos Banks drop into the abyss of the Atlantic Ocean; swim with eagle rays and turtles, thousands of juvenile fish at West Caicos, remains of old wrecks at Molasses reef, and during the winter months look out for humpback whales migrating to mate on the Silver Banks. This trip is a long ½ day with pick up from your hotel at 8.30 am, returning around 2:00 pm. Refreshments and snacks are included. $99.00 Children ½ price. This tour can not be pre-booked as it is weather dependent. Please contact us once on island to discuss your options.
If you prefer to spend longer exploring the southern reefs then we can arrange a private charter for you and family or friends. Cost is $1600.00 per day for up to 8 people. This includes snorkeling and if you wish a trip ashore at West Caicos to explore ruins or onto a deserted beach to relax and soak up the sun we can include this in your itinerary. Refreshments and full lunch included.
Dive Provo employs only scuba instructors who are all knowledgeable about the reefs and fish life. They are happy to show you fish and explain behavior and we also have the Paul Humann Reef Fish Identification books on the boats for you to look at.
Rental equipment is included in all snorkeling trips and we choose Kapitol Reef snorkels. These snorkels are completely dry helping nervous snorkelers feel more comfortable in the water and experienced snorkelers enjoy the additional freedom of being able to dive underwater with greater ease.. If you have your own equipment we encourage you to use it but you may want to use the opportunity to try out the snorkels prior to purchasing one. We are pretty sure you’ll like them so we offer a 10% discount on Kapitol Reef snorkels if you have taken a snorkel trip with us.
If you know you like snorkeling then you probably should try scuba! Our Resort Course, with a maximum of 2 students per instructor, gives students the benefit of personalized attention while experiencing diving for the first time. You have a quick lecture on the basic Do’s and Dont’s and then practice vital skills in the pool. On the dives your instructor is right with you, guiding you safely through the wonders of the underwater world.
A step up from snorkeling after a 15 minute orientation to the equipment you take a guided tour of the reef underwater with surface supplied air. There is no experience needed to take a Snuba tour. If you can breath, look and kick your legs then you too can SNUBA. Snuba is suitable for children as young as 8 years and fun for adults as well! Many people who have tried SNUBA have gone on to become certified divers after just one Snuba experience.
